Our approach

Our Kit Digital management process

01

Digital maturity assessment & eligibility

We analyse your company's digital maturity level, identify the solution categories best suited to your real needs, confirm the applicable segment (I-V by size), and calculate the maximum grant amount available.

02

Application & Acelera Pyme management

We prepare and submit the digital voucher application on the Acelera Pyme platform, manage all required documentation, and advise on the selection of the digitising agent or agents for each solution category.

03

Implementation oversight

We supervise the implementation process by the digitising agents, verify that the deployed solutions meet the programme's technical and functional requirements, and document the implementation milestones for the justification phase.

04

Justification & monitoring

We manage the justification phase with Red.es: expenditure documentation, implementation reports, digitising agent certifications, and monitoring indicator compliance. We resolve requests from the managing body and handle any incidents or verifications.

The challenge

The Kit Digital programme is a genuine opportunity to finance your company's digitalisation with EU funds — but the application process, digitising agent selection, expenditure justification, and monitoring report compliance are more complex than the official communications suggest. Many companies have missed or failed to use the grants due to administrative complexity, or contracted solutions that did not meet their real needs. Others have received the grant but now face problems in the justification phase.

Our solution

We manage the complete Kit Digital process: digital needs diagnosis, optimal segment and solution category identification, application management on the Acelera Pyme platform, digitising agent selection, implementation oversight, and full justification and monitoring report management. For companies with larger-scale digitalisation projects, we also advise on the Next Generation EU funding instruments available under the Spanish Recovery Plan.

The Kit Digital (Digital Kit) is a Spanish government grant programme funded through Next Generation EU funds that finances the digitalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises. Administered by Red.es under the Acelera Pyme platform, it offers vouchers of between EUR 2,000 and EUR 25,000 depending on company size (Segments I–V by employee count) to fund eligible digital solutions including CRM, ERP, cybersecurity, e-commerce, and electronic invoicing. Applicant companies must be domiciled in Spain, be free of AEAT and Social Security debt, and contract solutions exclusively through accredited digitising agents listed in the official catalogue.

Our team manages the complete Kit Digital process so that you benefit from the grant without investing time in programme administration — and we guarantee that the implemented solution meets all call requirements before initiating the justification phase.

Why Kit Digital applications fail — and how to avoid it

The Kit Digital programme is one of the most directly useful instruments for Spanish SMEs within the Next Generation EU package. It finances the real digitalisation of the company in categories as relevant as CRM, ERP, cybersecurity, e-commerce, and electronic invoicing, with grants reaching EUR 25,000 for companies with 50 to 249 employees. However, 40% of vouchers granted in the early calls have encountered problems in the justification phase: solutions that do not meet the call’s functional requirements, incomplete implementation documentation, usage indicators not achieved, or disputes with digitising agents who delivered less than promised. The administrative process — Acelera Pyme platform, agent agreement management, Red.es indicator system — is genuinely complex and consumes time that most SME managers do not have.

Choosing the right digitising agent is one of the most critical and most frequently underestimated aspects of the process. The official catalogue includes hundreds of accredited agents for each solution category, with very significant differences in quality, sector specialisation, and implementation capability. Selecting an inadequate agent can result in a solution that does not respond to the real needs of the business, or does not meet the call’s functional requirements — jeopardising the grant justification. Our experience managing the programme allows us to recommend agents with the best track record for each category and type of company.

Our Kit Digital management process

Our professionals manage the Kit Digital as a file from start to finish. We begin with the eligibility diagnosis: we confirm the client’s segment (I to V by number of employees), verify the absence of AEAT and TGSS debts that would block the award, and identify the solution categories with the greatest real impact for the business. We prepare and submit the application on Acelera Pyme with all required documentation, and accompany the client in selecting the most appropriate digitising agent for each category in the official catalogue. During implementation we supervise that the solution meets the call’s functional requirements. In the justification phase we manage all documentation with Red.es and respond to any request from the managing body.

What our Kit Digital service includes

The service covers the eligibility diagnosis and calculation of the maximum applicable voucher, preparation and submission of the Acelera Pyme application, digitising agent catalogue analysis and recommendation for each solution category, implementation supervision during the eligibility period (generally 12 months), and complete management of the justification phase with Red.es including expenditure documentation, agent certifications, indicator compliance, and responses to requirements. For more ambitious projects, we identify complementary NextGenerationEU calls from CDTI and the Digital Agenda 2030 in coordination with our grants and subsidies service.

Real results in Kit Digital management

One hundred per cent of applications managed by our team have passed the justification phase without reimbursements. Average time from start of management to voucher award is 4 to 8 weeks depending on the active call. Our clients save 20 to 40 hours of internal time that would otherwise have been spent understanding programme bureaucracy. And in cases where the initial digitising agent failed to meet their commitments, we have in every case resolved the situation before the justification deadline, preventing reimbursement. For companies looking to go beyond the Kit Digital, our process automation service builds on the digital foundation the Kit Digital creates.

Frequently asked questions about Kit Digital and Next Generation EU funds

For companies with more ambitious digitalisation projects, the Kit Digital is only the entry point into the Spanish Recovery Plan funding ecosystem. The sector-specific grant programmes we manage — including CDTI innovation funding lines, Digital Agenda 2030 instruments, and strategic project calls — can finance larger-scale programmes. We advise on the best combination of instruments for your digital transformation plan.

Kit Digital: the Spanish SME digitalisation grant programme

The Kit Digital programme (Programa de Ayudas para la Digitalización de Pequeñas Empresas, Microempresas y Autónomos) is a EUR 3 billion+ subsidy programme funded through the Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia (Spain’s NextGenerationEU implementation plan). It provides non-repayable grants (bonos digitales) to Spanish SMEs and self-employed individuals for the adoption of specific digital solutions from accredited providers.

The programme is managed by Red.es (under the Ministry of Digital Transformation) and has been structured in three segments by company size:

  • Segment I (10-49 employees): bono digital of up to EUR 12,000
  • Segment II (3-9 employees): bono digital of up to EUR 6,000
  • Segment III (0-2 employees and autónomos): bono digital of up to EUR 2,000

Applications are made through the Acelera Pyme platform, and grants are disbursed as vouchers redeemable with Agentes Digitalizadores Adheridos — accredited digital solution providers.

Qualifying digital solutions: what can be funded

Kit Digital grants can be applied to 12 qualifying digital solution categories:

  1. Sitio web y presencia en internet — website creation or redesign
  2. Comercio electrónico — e-commerce platform development
  3. Gestión de redes sociales — social media management
  4. Gestión de clientes — CRM software implementation
  5. Business intelligence y analítica — BI tools and data analytics
  6. Gestión de procesos — ERP/business process management software
  7. Factura electrónica — electronic invoicing software (mandatory under Crea y Crece)
  8. Servicios y herramientas de oficina virtual — virtual office and collaboration tools
  9. Comunicaciones seguras — secure communications and VPN
  10. Ciberseguridad — cybersecurity tools and training
  11. Presencia avanzada en internet — SEO, SEM, and advanced online presence
  12. Marketplace — marketplace platform listing and management

Combining Kit Digital with other digitalisation incentives

For companies beyond the Kit Digital threshold (50+ employees), or for investments exceeding the Kit Digital caps, the Programme integrates with other digitalisation support:

  • Kit Consulting: advisory and diagnostic services for SMEs to design their digitalisation strategy, funded separately with bonos of up to EUR 24,000 for eligible companies.
  • CDTI digitalisation grants: for technology-intensive digitalisation projects with R&D components, CDTI programmes (NEOTEC, Proyectos de I+D+i) may be applicable.
  • R&D&I deductions: digitalisation investments involving genuine technological innovation may qualify for the IS R&D incentives deduction (12% for IT activities) — independently of Kit Digital.

Our advisory ensures that clients access the maximum total subsidy and tax incentive stack for their digitalisation investments, avoiding the common error of claiming Kit Digital in isolation from other available instruments.

Application support and project management

The Kit Digital application process — registration on Acelera Pyme, matching with an Agente Digitalizador, negotiating the solution agreement, ensuring that deliverables meet programme requirements, and submitting the justification for disbursement — requires dedicated project management attention to avoid the common pitfalls that result in delayed or rejected disbursements.

Our grants and subsidies team manages the Kit Digital application process end-to-end, coordinating with the selected Agente Digitalizador and ensuring that all programme requirements are met.

Regulatory framework: NextGenerationEU, Plan de Recuperación, and programme rules

The Kit Digital programme sits within a specific regulatory and compliance framework that determines eligibility, grant conditions, and justification requirements:

NextGenerationEU and Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia (PRTR): Spain’s National Recovery Plan (approved by the European Commission in June 2021) allocates EUR 69.5 billion in grants and loans from the EU’s EUR 800 billion NextGenerationEU package over 2021–2026. The Kit Digital is the PRTR component dedicated to SME and autónomo digitalisation, with a total allocation exceeding EUR 3 billion across multiple calls.

Royal Decree 988/2021 and subsequent bases reguladoras: the Kit Digital is governed by a series of regulatory orders (bases reguladoras, published in the BOE) that specify eligibility conditions, qualifying solutions, maximum grant amounts per category, implementation requirements, and justification procedures. Each call may update or refine these rules — understanding which call’s bases apply to a specific application is a prerequisite for compliant management.

Red.es: the programme’s managing body. Red.es operates the Acelera Pyme platform for applications, maintains the Agente Digitalizador catalogue, processes disbursements, and conducts justification reviews. All communication with Red.es — submissions, responses to requirements (requerimientos), and justification documentation — is conducted through the Acelera Pyme platform and must comply with specific format and content requirements.

Acuerdo de Prestación de Soluciones Digitales: the contractual agreement between the SME beneficiary and the accredited Agente Digitalizador, through which the bono digital is applied to fund the solution. This agreement must include specific elements required by the bases reguladoras (solution description, functional requirements, implementation timeline, price, and invoice details) — non-compliant agreements are one of the most common justification failure points.

Mandatory electronic invoicing (Ley 18/2022, Crea y Crece, Article 12): the Crea y Crece law requires all Spanish businesses to adopt electronic invoicing for B2B transactions. The implementing regulation (pending as of 2026) will set the phase-in timeline — Phase 1 for large companies (revenues above EUR 8M), Phase 2 for the rest. The Kit Digital category 7 (Factura Electrónica) is the most tax-efficient way to fund compliant software adoption — combining subsidy with mandatory compliance investment.

AEAT Verifactu: the AEAT’s new anti-fraud certified invoicing system requires that businesses use certified invoicing software generating tamper-proof invoicing records (registros de facturación), submitted or available to the AEAT on request. Compatible certified software is the same tool needed for Crea y Crece compliance — a dual mandate that strengthens the business case for Kit Digital category 7 investment.

Sectors and use cases: where Kit Digital generates the most value

Professional services (consultancies, law firms, engineering): CRM implementation (category 4) and business intelligence tools (category 5) deliver the highest return in professional services firms, where client relationship data is under-leveraged and billing pipeline visibility is often managed through spreadsheets. Kit Digital funds the transformation without requiring capital expenditure.

Retail and e-commerce: for brick-and-mortar retailers seeking an online channel, Kit Digital category 2 (Comercio electrónico) funds a complete e-commerce platform including product catalogue, payment gateway, and integration with the existing POS system. Combined with category 7 (Factura electrónica) for B2B invoicing compliance, the grant can address the two most pressing digitalisation requirements simultaneously.

Manufacturing and industrial SMEs: process management software (ERP, category 6) is the highest-value Kit Digital application for manufacturing companies with inventory management complexity. Integration with supplier order management and production planning delivers working capital improvements that often exceed the grant value in the first year.

Healthcare and clinics: secure communications (category 9) and cybersecurity (category 10) are mandatory-feeling investments for healthcare providers — GDPR obligations for health data and the sector’s high ransomware exposure make cybersecurity a compliance requirement, not a discretionary upgrade. Kit Digital funds up to EUR 29,000 in cybersecurity tooling and training for segment I companies.

Hospitality and tourism: social media management (category 3), e-commerce booking integration (category 2), and online presence (category 11) are the most frequently applied categories in the hospitality sector, where digital marketing and online booking capability directly translate to revenue.

Company size segmentation: optimising the grant by segment

Segment III: 0-2 employees and autónomos (bono EUR 2,000): the most accessible grant tier. Priority categories: electronic invoicing (EUR 1,000, covering Crea y Crece compliance), website creation (EUR 2,000 — absorbs the full bono), or secure communications (EUR 500). Application is simple but requires the applicant to be registered on the Acelera Pyme platform (requires digital certificate or Cl@ve).

Segment II: 3-9 employees (bono EUR 6,000): can fund two or three solution categories simultaneously. Optimal combinations: CRM (EUR 4,000 for segment II) + electronic invoicing (EUR 2,000) — covering the CRM gap that limits growth in this company size. Or: cybersecurity (EUR 2,000) + business intelligence (EUR 1,500) + social media management (EUR 2,500).

Segment I: 10-49 employees (bono EUR 12,000): highest-value segment for professional management. Typical optimal package: ERP/process management (EUR 6,000) + CRM (EUR 4,000) + electronic invoicing (EUR 2,000) = full grant utilisation with high business-impact solutions. Segment I applications benefit most from professional management due to the complexity of multi-category justification.

Segment I expanded (50-249 employees, bono EUR 25,000): for companies in this range, Kit Digital is a meaningful but not transformative investment — representing a fraction of the digitalisation budget. The value is in combining Kit Digital with CDTI, R&D&I deductions (Articles 35-36 LIS at 12% for IT-qualifying activities), and sector-specific digitalisation grants. Our grants and subsidies team maximises the total incentive stack across all instruments.

Worked example: Segment I retail chain — EUR 12,000 Kit Digital package

A retail chain with 22 employees (3 shops + online channel, EUR 2.8M revenue) applied for Kit Digital Segment I with our management. Analysis of their digitalisation priorities identified three critical gaps: no CRM (customer data held in disconnected spreadsheets and POS systems), e-commerce platform outdated (built in 2019, not mobile-optimised, no payment gateway integration), and no electronic invoicing system for B2B wholesale channel.

Grant package designed:

  • Category 4 (CRM): EUR 4,000 — Salesforce Essentials (3 licences, 12-month implementation period). Connected to POS system via Zapier integration. Net cost after grant: EUR 1,800/year subscription.
  • Category 2 (Comercio electrónico): EUR 4,000 — Shopify rebuild with mobile-optimised theme, product catalogue migration (480 SKUs), and Redsys payment gateway integration. Net cost to company: EUR 0 (Agente Digitalizador agreement structured at EUR 4,000 exactly).
  • Category 7 (Factura electrónica): EUR 2,000 — Holded electronic invoicing module, FacturaE format for public sector customers, Verifactu-ready certified invoicing records. Net cost: EUR 0 (module included in Holded standard plan at EUR 49/month, client already subscribed).
  • Remaining EUR 2,000: category 11 (Presencia avanzada en internet) — 6-month SEO programme for main commercial keywords.

Outcome: Full EUR 12,000 bono utilised across 4 categories. Justification submitted 11 months after implementation initiation; Red.es approved without requirements. Internal time invested by the company’s managing director: 4 hours (initial briefing and document signature). Time invested by our team: approximately 28 hours across eligibility assessment, application, implementation supervision, and justification.

Five common Kit Digital mistakes to avoid

1. Selecting an Agente Digitalizador without due diligence. The official Acelera Pyme catalogue contains hundreds of accredited agents per category, with very significant variation in quality, implementation capability, and after-sales support. Choosing on price or brand familiarity without verifying the agent’s sector experience and client references is the most common cause of implementation failure and justification problems.

2. Not checking AEAT and Social Security debt status before applying. Applicants with outstanding AEAT or TGSS debts are ineligible for Kit Digital grants. Clearing debts or obtaining deferred payment plans (aplazamientos) before the application is a prerequisite that is often overlooked until the application is rejected.

3. Confusing the eligible period with the implementation period. The bono digital has a fixed eligible period (typically 12 months from the grant award) within which all solutions must be implemented, invoiced, paid, and delivered. Companies that start the process late — or allow agents to delay implementation — risk the grant expiring before justification can be submitted.

4. Under-claiming by not combining multiple categories. Many companies apply for a single solution category and leave grant money unclaimed. A Segment I company with a EUR 12,000 bono that only implements one EUR 4,000 category loses EUR 8,000 in available grant. Our analysis always identifies the optimal combination of categories for each company’s actual digitalisation needs.

5. Treating the electronic invoicing category as optional. Given the Crea y Crece mandatory electronic invoicing obligation — which will apply to all Spanish businesses within the plan’s implementation timeline — the Category 7 (Factura electrónica) solution is arguably the most strategically important Kit Digital investment for any company that issues invoices to other businesses. It simultaneously funds a mandated compliance obligation and the operational efficiency benefits of digital invoicing workflows.

How we work: Kit Digital management process

Week 1 (eligibility and diagnosis): verification of employee count (segment), AEAT and TGSS debt status, ICO database registration eligibility, and identification of the solution categories with the highest business-impact for the specific company.

Weeks 2–4 (application): preparation of Acelera Pyme application (all required documentation including last tax filing, business activity certificate, and company registration data), submission, and tracking of award notification.

Weeks 4–8 (Agente selection): identification of the best Agente Digitalizador for each selected category from our network of vetted agents, coordination of the Acuerdo de Prestación review and signature.

Months 2–12 (implementation supervision): oversight of each solution’s implementation against the contracted specifications, ensuring functional requirements of the bases reguladoras are met throughout the eligible period.

Month 12 (justification): preparation and submission of complete justification documentation to Red.es — invoices, implementation evidence, usage indicators, agent certifications, and expenditure schedule.

Fixed fee for Segment II and III: EUR 890 + IVA (complete management). Segment I: EUR 1,490 + IVA. Multi-category Segment I: EUR 1,890 + IVA. No success fee — our fee is fixed regardless of the grant amount awarded, aligning our interest in programme compliance rather than maximisation of complexity.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Kit Digital and Next Generation EU funds

The Kit Digital has five segments by company size. Segment I (10-49 employees): up to EUR 12,000. Segment II (3-9 employees): up to EUR 6,000. Segment III (0-2 employees and self-employed): up to EUR 2,000. Segments IV and V are for companies with 50 to 249 employees, with amounts up to EUR 25,000. Exact amounts and eligible categories vary by the applicable call.
The main categories include: website and internet presence, e-commerce, social media management, customer management (CRM), business intelligence and analytics, process management (ERP), electronic invoicing, virtual office tools and services, cybersecurity, secure communications, advanced internet presence, and marketplace. Each category has a specific maximum amount and functional requirements defined in the digitising agents' catalogue.
Digitising agents are technology companies accredited by Red.es to offer the Kit Digital eligible solutions. Each company must contract directly with one or more digitising agents for the solutions it will implement. Choosing the right agent for each category is critical — not all agents have the same quality level or sector specialisation. We advise on selection and negotiate terms on your behalf.
The justification period varies by call, but is generally 3 months from signing the solution provision agreement with the digitising agent. It is essential to meet the minimum solution usage requirements during the monitoring period (generally 12 months) and to maintain implementation documentation correctly filed for possible verifications.
It depends on the current call and segment. Programme rules allow access in some cases to solution categories not requested in previous calls. We analyse your specific situation and advise on the options available under the active call.
Next Generation EU funds are the EU's largest economic stimulus package, channelled through each Member State's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. In Spain, the SME digitalisation component includes the Kit Digital but also other instruments such as PERTE (Strategic Projects for Economic Recovery and Transformation) and sector-specific aid lines. For larger-scale projects, we advise on access to these instruments.
This is a real programme risk: some companies have signed agreements with agents who have not delivered solutions meeting the call's requirements, jeopardising the justification and grant consolidation. Our service includes implementation oversight and, where necessary, conflict management with the agent and sourcing of alternative solutions before the justification deadline.
Yes — and this is one of the most strategically valuable applications of the grant. Under Ley 18/2022 (Crea y Crece), all companies must adopt electronic invoicing in business-to-business transactions within two years of the implementing regulation's publication. The Kit Digital category 7 (Factura electrónica) can fund the certified software needed to comply with both the B2B electronic invoicing obligation and the AEAT's Verifactu (anti-fraud) requirements simultaneously — making the grant a logical first step in mandatory compliance rather than an optional digitalisation upgrade.
