Biography
David Lopez Heredia is part of BMC’s corporate advisory team, where he leads valuation and financial due diligence processes. His undergraduate training at ESADE, followed by a Master in Finance at London Business School, gave him a rigorous analytical framework and direct exposure to the standards applied by private equity funds and Anglo-Saxon institutional investors. That international perspective is particularly valuable in mandates where BMC acts as a bridge between foreign buyers and Spanish target companies.
On the valuation side, David combines classical methodologies — discounted cash flow, comparable transaction multiples, sum-of-the-parts — with a nuanced understanding of the qualitative factors that shape real transaction prices in a negotiation. He has completed valuations across more than 50 due diligence and M&A projects in sectors including technology, energy transition, and financial services, covering growth-stage startup assessments and asset portfolio analyses for investment funds operating in Spain.
His due diligence work extends well beyond the review of historical financial statements. David manages data room coordination, information request tracking, and the integration of financial findings with the legal and tax teams — providing clients with a consolidated view of transaction risk. In sectors such as renewable energy and technology platforms, he has developed scenario models that simulate the impact of regulatory and market variables on future cash generation, tools that clients use both in price negotiation and in structuring earn-out mechanisms.
Since joining BMC he has progressively expanded his responsibilities, now coordinating junior team members on larger mandates and acting as the primary client contact on standalone valuation projects. He has also contributed to internal methodology development, including the firm’s standardised due diligence framework and financial modelling templates. His medium-term focus is to deepen his expertise in the energy transition sector — an area where the complexity of project finance structures, subsidy frameworks, and rapidly evolving carbon market dynamics make qualified financial analysis increasingly decisive for investors and corporate acquirers alike.
