Royal Decree 313/2026 declares the hórreos (traditional granaries) of northern Iberia as a Representative Manifestation of Intangible Cultural Heritage, in accordance with Article 11.2(c) of Law 10/2015. This recognition aims to safeguard their cultural and symbolic value through collaboration between the Ministry of Culture and the autonomous communities. The process was initiated by the Ministry following a resolution dated 4 September 2025 (BOE 15/09/2025).
For the autonomous communities in northern Iberia, this consolidates the recognition of their cultural heritage, encouraging protection and promotion policies. Cultural administrations may develop conservation and dissemination programmes. Cultural advisors and local entities can leverage this recognition to strengthen educational and tourism activities. It does not directly affect businesses or individuals in economic activities.
