Ceuta: creation of two new specialised open classrooms for students with special educational needs

The State Secretariat for Education has resolved to create two new specialised open classrooms in educational centres in Ceuta to support students with special educational needs (Art. 1). This measure aims to offer a more inclusive alternative to schooling in special education centres, allowing students to join mainstream schools on a transitory or prolonged basis (Art. 1). The resolution is based on the need to support students whose requirements cannot be met through standard diversity support measures (Art. 1).

In 2 key points

  1. Creation of two new specialised open classrooms in centres in the City of Ceuta, Art. 1 (art. Primero)
  2. Purpose of providing an extraordinary diversity support measure in mainstream schools, Art. 1 (art. Primero)

How it affects those involved

For students with special educational needs in Ceuta, the range of support resources is expanded, facilitating integration into mainstream schools instead of special education centres (Art. 1). Educational authorities will manage these new classrooms to comply with the mandate to ensure resources for diversity support (Art. 71.2 LOE). The selected educational centres must integrate these classrooms to provide specific socio-educational interventions (Art. 1).
