Voters in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa to adapt to electronic voting system in three months

Law 1/2026 amends Law 1/1987 on elections in the Basque regions by introducing a new article (art. 6 ter) enabling electronic voting in General Council elections. This change, within the Autonomy Statute, aims to modernise the electoral process. The law is published in the BOPV on 5 May 2026 and comes into force the next day, as provided in article 10.3 of the Autonomy Statute (Organic Law 3/1979).
