CNMC and Pompeu Fabra University sign agreement for external academic internships

The National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC) and Pompeu Fabra University have signed a cooperation agreement for external academic internships (Annex). The agreement is strictly for training purposes, meaning it does not create an employment relationship or payment obligations for the CNMC (clause 1). The agreement will last for four years, with the possibility of a four-year extension (clause 13).

In 3 key points

  1. Four-year duration, with the possibility of an extension for a maximum of an additional four years, clause 13 (cláusula 13)
  2. The CNMC must notify the State Registry of the signing within five working days, clause 14 (cláusula 14)
  3. Publication in the BOE within ten working days of its formalisation, clause 14 (cláusula 14)

How it affects those involved

For Pompeu Fabra University students, the agreement provides a pathway for practical training at the CNMC on an unpaid basis (clause 1). The CNMC is exempt from Social Security obligations arising from these unpaid internships (clause 12). The effectiveness of the agreement is subject to its registration in the State Registry of Cooperation Bodies and Instruments (clause 13).
