The Ministry of Culture provides a State guarantee to cover the destruction, loss, theft, or damage of Jorge Inglés's 'Retablo de los Gozos de Santa María' (Articles 1 and 2). This guarantee covers a value of €6,000,000 during its exhibition at the Museo Nacional del Prado from 2 June 2026 to 1 June 2027 (Article 3.1). The regulation is issued in accordance with Law 16/1985 on Spanish Historical Heritage and Royal Decree 1680/1991.
For the Museo Nacional del Prado (the requesting institution), the State assumes the risk of compensation for damage to or loss of the work up to a limit of €6 million (Article 3.2). Any amount exceeding this sum must be covered by private insurance held by the institution or the lenders (Article 3.3). The lender of the work, the Marquess of Ariza, is assured of State coverage during the loan period (Article 3.1).
