Capital gains from property sales can be offset against losses from share sales in Personal Income Tax

A taxpayer has enquired whether a gain from the sale of real estate can be offset against a loss from the sale of shares. The Directorate General for Tax Affairs (DGT) has ruled that both are classified as savings income and are, therefore, offsettable against each other.
