Interest on a joint account is taxed in the residence country

A UK resident enquired who should pay tax on the interest from a joint account holding funds from a property sale. The DGT states that the source of income belongs to the owner of the funds and that, under the double taxation agreement, interest is only taxed in the country of residence.
