This resolution amends the management of the mackerel fishery (stock MAC/8C3411) for vessels using fishing gear other than trawling or purse seining with home ports in the province of Lugo for the 2026 campaign. Due to the amendment of Regulation (EU) 2026/249, the adapted quota for the province amounts to 277,085 kg, of which 259,292.80 kg is allocated to directed fishing and 17,792.20 kg to bycatch (First).
For shipowners and fishermen's guilds with home ports in Lugo using gear other than trawling or purse seining, the mackerel catch capacity is increased compared to the February 2026 resolution (Background). The increase in the total quota from 177,922 kg to 277,085 kg allows for greater directed fishing activity during the 2026 campaign (First).
