Fishing companies with high-survival species: 30 days to adapt landing requirements or lose exemption

The Resolution of 14 April 2026 states that certain species with high survival rates do not require landing, based on scientific criteria (Article 15.4 of Regulation (EU) 1380/2013). Fishing companies capturing these species must verify their inclusion in the official list to avoid landing obligations. This change enables more flexible and sustainable management in fishing areas where survival rates are high.

In 2 key points

  1. Species with high survival rate: no landing required (art. 1.2)
  2. Three-month period to apply the exemption (art. 4)

How it affects those involved

Logistical costs and storage time are reduced for fishing companies capturing species on the list. Fisheries authorities must not require landing in such cases. A three-month period requires adjustments to catch records and procedures.
