Persimmon producers: conditions, assets and yields defined for farm insurance

Order APA/1/2026 establishes the technical and economic framework for persimmon farm insurance within the Combined Agricultural Insurance Plan (Art. 1). The regulation governs insurable assets (persimmon varieties, plantations, saplings, and facilities such as hail protection structures or irrigation systems), yields, and guarantee periods (Art. 1 and 7). These conditions will apply to both the 47th and 48th Combined Agricultural Insurance Plans.

In 3 key points

  1. Insurable assets include persimmon varieties, plantations, saplings, and facilities (hail protection, shade houses, irrigation), Art. 1.1 (art. 1.1)
  2. Experimental plots, abandoned plots, plots for self-consumption, or isolated trees are excluded, Art. 1.2 (art. 1.2)
  3. To insure facilities, it is mandatory to insure the production and the plantation as a whole, Art. 1.1 (art. 1.1)

How it affects those involved

For persimmon farmers, the regulation allows for the insurance of not only production but also plantations and certain facilities (protection structures, irrigation, etc.), provided that both the production and the plantation are insured as a whole (Art. 1.1). Experimental plots, abandoned plots, plots for self-consumption, or isolated trees are explicitly excluded (Art. 1.2). Insured parties must declare yields that do not exceed the actual production expectations to avoid disputes with Agroseguro (Art. 3.2).
