Purse seiners in the Gulf of Cádiz: Iberian sardine fishery to open on 2 February 2026

The General Secretariat for Fisheries has established the opening of the directed Iberian sardine fishery for the purse sein method in the Gulf of Cádiz, effective from 00:00 on 2 February 2026 (First). An initial quota of 6,566.19 kg is assigned to the Gulf of Cádiz purse sein fleet for the 2026 campaign, which, following the redistribution of 2025 deductions, amounts to 7,005,426 kg (Second). This measure is part of Order APA/1203/2025 and the Gulf of Cádiz management plan (Art. 2.5 of Order AAA/1406/2016).
