The 'Tefía Penitentiary Agricultural Colony' (Fuerteventura) declared a Place of Democratic Memory

The State Secretariat for Democratic Memory has declared the 'Tefía Penitentiary Agricultural Colony' in Fuerteventura a Place of Democratic Memory. Between 1954 and 1966, the site was used to detain LGTBI individuals under the Vagrants and Malefactors Act (Agreement of 9 February 2026). The Administration will promote dissemination measures, signage, and digital resources to commemorate and provide moral reparation to the victims of this repression (Fifth).
