Wine sector: €15,951,350 allocated for 2026 green harvesting intervention

The Directorate-General for Agricultural Productions and Markets has set a budget allocation of €15,951,350 for green harvesting intervention during the 2026 financial year. Regulated by Royal Decree 905/2022, this measure aims to balance the wine market by destroying immature grape clusters to reduce regional yields (pursuant to Art. 34 and Art. 58.1.c of EU Regulation 2021/2115). The intervention is triggered following requests from six autonomous communities and the corresponding market analysis (Art. 34.2 RD 905/2022).

In 3 key points

  1. Budget allocation of €15,951,350 for green harvesting in 2026 (apartado único)
  2. Deadline for submitting applications: 30 April 2026 (art. 37 RD 905/2022)
  3. Green harvesting execution must be completed by 15 July 2026 at the latest (art. 42.1 RD 905/2022)

How it affects those involved

For wine producers in the six autonomous communities that requested the measure, a budget ceiling has been established for the removal of immature grapes to prevent market crises. The autonomous communities must communicate their payment methods and priority criteria before 1 March 2026 (Art. 34 RD 905/2022). Beneficiaries must complete the green harvesting execution no later than 15 July 2026 (Art. 42.1 RD 905/2022).
