Orcrom Metall Detectors: Type approval granted for Vmi Security Flatscan DF-80 DV X-ray equipment

The Directorate General for Energy Planning and Coordination has granted type approval (NHM-X401) for Vmi Security X-ray generator equipment, model Flatscan DF-80 DV, intended for forensic body inspection (Resolution of 29 January 2026). This authorisation is based on a favourable report from the Nuclear Safety Council and is governed by Royal Decree 1217/2024 and Royal Decree 1029/2022. The approval is subject to compliance with strict technical safety and labelling specifications.

In 3 key points

  1. Type approval NHM-X401 for equipment with a maximum voltage of 125 kV and a current of 320 mA, 1st (1.ª)
  2. The radiation dose rate at 0.1 m from the surface must not exceed 1 μSv/h, 4th.IV.c (4.ª.IV.c)
  3. One month period to lodge an administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) before the Secretary of State for Energy, last paragraph (último párrafo)

How it affects those involved

For the applicant (Orcrom Metall Detectors, SL), the resolution allows progress in the commercialisation process of this specific model, although it does not in itself constitute authorisation for manufacturing or technical assistance (7th). Users of this equipment must ensure that the radiation dose rate at 0.1 m from the surface does not exceed 1 μSv/h (4th.IV.c) and must comply with the inspection regime set out in the Regulation on nuclear and radioactive installations (5th).
