This regulation amends the guidelines from 3 March 2022 to align the institutional accreditation process for university centres with the updates in Royal Decree 640/2021. New mandatory requirements are introduced regarding staff and facilities/equipment for accreditation. Additionally, new criteria are established for accreditation renewal, now set to occur every six years and including an assessment of student academic outcomes and external placements (art. 14 RD 640/2021 and amended text).
Public and private universities face stricter accreditation standards, incorporating criteria on staff quality and facility adequacy (art. 14 RD 640/2021). During renewal processes, centres must demonstrate not only management effectiveness but also student academic performance and the quality of external placements. The renewal period is now capped at six years from the date of the last resolution (paragraph 3).
