This resolution amends the instructions of the Resolution of 3 March 2022 to adapt the institutional accreditation procedure for university centres to the updates in Royal Decree 640/2021. New mandatory requirements regarding teaching staff and facilities/equipment are introduced for obtaining accreditation. Furthermore, new criteria are established for the renewal of accreditation, which must now take place every six years and will include the evaluation of students' academic results and external placements (Art. 14 RD 640/2021 and amended text).
For both public and private universities, the accreditation of their centres becomes more demanding by integrating criteria on the quality of teaching staff and the adequacy of facilities (Art. 14 RD 640/2021). In renewal processes, centres must demonstrate not only management but also the academic performance of their students and the quality of external placements. The renewal period is set at a maximum of six years from the last resolution (section 3).
