Rolling stock manufacturers and rail operators: updated technical references for ASFA certification

The State Railway Safety Agency (AESF) is updating the regulatory references in Annex C of Railway Instruction IF MR ALC-20, approved by Order TMA/576/2020. This update incorporates new technical specifications for the circulation and functionality of the ASFA system (ETC ASFA FET) and onboard digital ASFA. The objective is to ensure that certification processes for vehicle types and railway vehicles align with current technical progress (First).

In 2 key points

  1. Update of the regulatory references in table C.2 of Annex C of IF MR ALC-20 to accommodate technical progress (First). (Primero)
  2. Entry into force on the day following its publication in the BOE (Fourth). (Cuarto)

How it affects those involved

For rolling stock manufacturers and rail operators operating on the General Interest Railway Network, vehicle certification processes must mandatorily integrate the new technical framework for the ASFA system (First). This means that evaluations of onboard systems (CMS Class A and B) and legal recorders must be based on the new technical circulation specifications (ETC ASFA FET) and the digital ASFA modification sheets (Second).
