Alfer Training Centre, SL: approved to provide specific health training for seafarers

The Social Institute of the Navy has approved the private centre 'Centro de Estudios de Formación Alfer, SL' to provide initial and advanced specific health training, including updates, via a mobile training model. This resolution complies with the requirements of Order PJC/1424/2025 and the STCW-78/2010 Convention for the accreditation of mandatory health training for seafarers (Art. 14 of Royal Decree 258/1999).

In 3 key points

  1. The approval will be valid for five years from the date of notification (Segundo)
  2. Health training must be mandatorily updated at a maximum frequency of every five years (art. 14 del Real Decreto 258/1999)
  3. The renewal must be requested at least one month before the expiry date (Segundo)

How it affects those involved

The approved centre is legally authorised to issue health training certificates valid for captains, masters, and personnel in charge of medical kits (Art. 14 RD 258/1999). For seafarers, it provides access to the training required to meet the mandatory five-year update cycle. The centre must manage the renewal of this authorisation in advance to maintain its teaching capacity.
