Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia receives official recognition from the Secretariat of State for Trade

The Secretariat of State for Trade has granted official recognition to the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia following compliance with the requirements of Royal Decree 1179/2020 (Art. 3). The process, initiated in 2021, was completed after the amendment of its statutes and the election of a Board of Directors in accordance with current regulations. This resolution formalises the entity as the official representative in that jurisdiction.

In 2 key points

  1. Enters into force the day following its publication in the BOE (Resolución de 4 de julio de 2026)
  2. Administrative remedies are exhausted, allowing for an appeal for reversal within one month or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months (Resolución de 4 de julio de 2026)

How it affects those involved

For Spanish companies operating in Malaysia, this recognition facilitates institutional dialogue and internationalisation support through an officially backed entity (RD 1179/2020). No new obligations are introduced for economic operators; rather, it consolidates an institutional support channel in the region.
