Deep-sea fleet vessels: allocation of 140 tonnes of monkfish following quota swap with Belgium

The General Secretariat for Fisheries has resolved the distribution of quantities obtained and deducted following a quota swap with Belgium, in accordance with Order APA/315/2020 (art. 8.4.d). The swap involves the transfer of various quantities of whiting, scampi, sea robin, and plaice in exchange for receiving 140 tonnes of monkfish from stock ANF/07. The resolution details both the deduction of quotas provided by the participating vessels (Annex I) and the distribution of the monkfish tonnes received (Annex II).

In 2 key points

  1. 140 tonnes of monkfish from stock ANF/07 are received through the swap with Belgium, First Article. (art. Primero)
  2. A one-month period applies to lodge an administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) before the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, arts. 121 and 122 of Law 39/2015. (Segundo)

How it affects those involved

For the deep-sea and large deep-sea fleet vessels involved in the swap, the resolution formalises the reduction of their quotas in specific stocks (whiting, scampi, sea robin, and plaice) and the increase in their fishing opportunities for the monkfish stock (First Article). Affected shipowners must verify the exact quantities deducted and allocated in the annexes for their operational catch management.
