Military personnel and candidates: new unified physical testing regime for recruitment, training and assessment

Order DEF/15/2026 establishes a unified physical testing regime for recruitment, training and graduation processes within Military Training Centres, as well as for periodic assessment within the Armed Forces. This regulation repeals Order DEF/1078/2012 and Ministerial Order 54/2014, unifying physical assessment criteria under the framework of Royal Decree 309/2021. It also amends Annex I.4 of Order DEF/1341/2017 to integrate these new standards.

In 2 key points

  1. Unification of physical tests for recruitment, training, graduation and periodic assessment in the Armed Forces (ref. indice BOE)
  2. Repeal of Order DEF/1078/2012 and Ministerial Order 54/2014 (ref. indice BOE)

How it affects those involved

For Armed Forces candidates, the regulation defines the new mandatory physical standards required to pass recruitment and training processes. Active military personnel are affected by the implementation of the unified periodic assessment, which replaces previous regimes. Military educational institutions must adapt their training and assessment programmes to this new regulatory framework.
