Joint Committee urges Government to review effectiveness or dissolve Just Transition Institute

The Joint Committee for Relations with the Court of Auditors has approved the resolution regarding the 2023 audit report of the Just Transition Institute, O.A. (point 1). The resolution urges the Government to review the Institute's effectiveness and proceed with its dissolution if it fails to deliver results, in order to prevent unnecessary costs to the Ministry (point 3). Furthermore, the Institute is required to justify the allocation of European funds and improve the management of grants (points 3 and 4).

In 3 key points

  1. Urging the Government to review the Institute's effectiveness and, if ineffective, proceed with its dissolution (punto 3)
  2. Demanding explanations regarding the allocation of European funds to the relevant projects (punto 3)
  3. Adopting measures to promote efficient participation in the awarding and justification of grants (punto 4)

How it affects those involved

For the Government, the resolution exerts political pressure to evaluate the continuity of the Institute and the management of European funds (point 3). For the Just Transition Institute, it entails the obligation to adopt transparency measures regarding grants, improve beneficiary participation, and conduct an analysis of its human resources to prevent the outsourcing of core functions (point 4).
