Reinvestment exemption for principal residence may apply after selling property abroad

A tax resident in Spain has enquired whether they can claim the reinvestment exemption after selling a property that served as their principal residence in the USA. The Directorate General for Taxes (DGT) clarifies that the exemption is applicable provided that the requirements for principal residence and the reinvestment timeframes are met.

The question raised

The DGT's ruling
