Exemption on sale of main residence for over-65s depends on effective residence

A married couple over the age of 65 sought clarification on whether a property they intend to sell could be considered their main residence after alternating their stay with another property. The DGT explains that a main residence requires continuous and effective residence, and in cases of dual occupancy, it is identified by the address where the individual spends the most time.

The question raised

The DGT's ruling
