IRPF · exención por reinversión

Reinvestment exemption cannot be applied if the sold property was not the main residence in the two years prior to sale

A taxpayer inquired whether they could apply the reinvestment exemption when selling their property in Madrid to purchase another, having resided in London since 2013. The Directorate General for Taxes (DGT) ruled that this is not possible because the property does not qualify as a main residence, as the taxpayer had not resided in it during the two years preceding the transfer.

The question raised

The DGT's ruling
