BMC joins the charitable drive of the Fundación Starlite Gala

Dirk Manuel Martens Jiménez took part in the traditional charity auction of the XVII Starlite Occident Gala in Marbella, backing the Experience created by dancer Joaquín Cortés and devised for Fundación Starlite, together with BMC, the advisory firm where he serves as Chief Executive.

Under the Peace & Love motto, BMC was present at one of the benchmark charitable evenings of the Spanish summer with a contribution true to its craft: not giving away an object, but creating value that lasts.

The auctioned experience, starring Joaquín Cortés, consisted of a private dinner with the artist at Los Gabrieles, a legendary Madrid tavern with more than 120 years of history that has just reopened its doors. A sanctuary of flamenco whose walls and ceilings are entirely covered in exuberant tilework by the illustrators and ceramists Enrique Guijo and Alfonso Romero. Federico García Lorca, Manolete, Ava Gardner and King Alfonso XIII all passed through its rooms.

The dinner came with a stay at the Hyatt Regency Madrid, in one of the most exclusive districts of the city, and a private evening at which the artist will receive an honour. Joaquín Cortés was named Artist for Peace by UNESCO in 1999, in recognition of his defence of the Gitano people and his commitment to tolerance and equality, and Ambassador of the Roma People by the European Parliament in November 2006.

BMC’s contribution was no ordinary keepsake. The evening becomes a permanent piece: a film by an author’s hand, a photography book and a private gallery, with a certificate of authenticity. The fleeting nature of one night remains guarded, verifiable and safe from oblivion. The same logic with which BMC protects the wealth of those who entrust it with their future.

BMC’s craft is making valuable things last: an estate, a decision well made or the memory of an unrepeatable night; everything deserves care so that it endures.

The experience was awarded at the evening’s charity auction and its proceeds joined the night’s collection for the projects of Fundación Starlite.

Hosted by Sandra García-Sanjuán and Antonio Banderas, the evening gathered entrepreneurs and personalities such as Enrique Riquelme, Jorge Neri, Victoria Federica, HRH Princess Nouf of Saudi Arabia, Gunilla von Bismarck and Carmen Lomana, alongside artists of the stature of Michael Bublé, Plácido Domingo, Melendi, Miguel Poveda and Estrella Morente.
