Holiday rental properties may qualify for the Canary Islands Investment Reserve subject to certain requirements

A company sought clarification on whether acquiring properties intended for holiday rentals qualified for the Canary Islands Investment Reserve (RIC). The Directorate General for Taxes (DGT) indicated that while the land itself would not qualify as it does not constitute rehabilitation, the investment in the buildings may qualify provided they remain dedicated to tourism activities and meet the requirements regarding holding periods and non-linkage.
