Termination of co-ownership with financial compensation may result in capital gains or losses for transferors

A taxpayer inquired whether the termination of a co-ownership arrangement, in which they were awarded a property by providing financial compensation to their siblings, constitutes a change in assets. The Directorate General for Taxes (DGT) ruled that a change does occur for the siblings transferring their shares, resulting in a capital gain or loss.
