Only 50% of mortgage payments may be deducted if one owns only 50% of the property

A taxpayer inquired whether they could deduct 100% of mortgage loan payments if they pay the full amount, despite owning only 50% of the property. The Directorate-General for Taxes (DGT) ruled that only the portion proportional to their ownership may be deducted, which is half of each payment.
