Reduction for donation of shares may apply even without prior shareholding by the donee

A query was raised regarding whether the 95% reduction for the donation of company shares requires the donees to already hold shares in the entity. The DGT ruled that prior shareholding is not a requirement, provided that the requirements for exemption from Wealth Tax are met.
