Businesses and individuals: 30 days to update official euro exchange rates

The Bank of Spain's resolution publishes new euro exchange rates effective from 27 April 2026, as per current law (Article 36 of Law 46/1998). These official rates replace previous ones and must be used in financial transactions, contracts, and official communications. The changes affect all sectors using exchange rates in commercial or administrative operations.

In 2 key points

  1. Official exchange rates are updated daily according to the ECB (Article 36 of Law 46/1998) (art. 36 Ley 46/1998)
  2. The new exchange rates are published in the Bank of Spain Resolution of 27 April 2026 (Resolución de 27 de abril de 2026)

How it affects those involved

Business operators and individuals carrying out international transactions must update their financial calculations with the new official exchange rates from 27 April. Public administrations and financial institutions must adopt the new rates in their records and communications. Investment advisors and fund managers must review their calculation models and currency risk assessments. The commercial and service sectors lose accuracy if they do not update their conversions.
