Skyway Air Navigation Services S.A. certified as aeronautical meteorological service provider with preconditions

The Undersecretariat for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge has granted Skyway Air Navigation Services S.A.'s application to act as an aeronautical meteorological support service provider (aeronautical meteorological station function), in accordance with Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/373. The certification is subject to a limitation requiring prior verification by the competent authority regarding human resources, insurance coverage, and the adaptation of documentation to the specific operational context before service provision can commence.

In 3 key points

  1. Certification subject to prior verification of human resources, insurance, and operational documentation (resolución, punto 2)
  2. One-month period to file an optional appeal for reversal (artículos 123 y 124 de la Ley 39/2015)
  3. Two-month period to file a contentious-administrative appeal (artículo 46 de la Ley 29/1998)

How it affects those involved

For SKYWAY, the resolution provides the necessary certification to operate, but conditions the actual start of service provision on the authority's verification of operational, insurance, and personnel matters (resolution, point 2). The air navigation sector gains a new certified provider for the aeronautical meteorological station function under the framework of Regulation (EU) 2017/373.
