Removal of Base Material from the National Catalogue for Pinus pinaster and Quercus robur in Galicia

The Directorate-General for Biodiversity, Forests and Desertification announces the removal of base materials for the production of forest reproductive material (FRM) in Galicia (Art. 7.2 RD 289/2003). This measure affects the 'selected' and 'controlled' categories for the species Pinus pinaster and Quercus robur. This resolution amends the National Catalogue of Base Materials following notification from the Xunta de Galicia.

In 2 key points

  1. Removal of base materials for Pinus pinaster in the selected and controlled categories, Art. 7.2 RD 289/2003 (art. 7.2 RD 289/2003)
  2. Removal of base materials for Quercus robur in the controlled category, Art. 7.2 RD 289/2003 (art. 7.2 RD 289/2003)

How it affects those involved

For producers of forest reproductive material in Galicia, the removal of these base materials means they can no longer use the listed codes (such as RS-26/01a/002 or HS-C-26/36/001) to obtain forest reproductive material in the selected or controlled categories (Art. 7.2 RD 289/2003). This necessitates the updating of inventories and production processes that rely on these materials for the species Pinus pinaster and Quercus robur.
