Businesses and individuals: 1 month to update exchange rates in international operations

The Bank of Spain publishes official exchange rates for the euro as of April 1, 2026, in accordance with Law 46/1998. These rates replace previous ones and must be used in financial and commercial transactions, particularly in exports, imports, or international payments.

In 3 key points

  1. Official euro exchange rates are updated each 1 April according to the ECB (art. 36 Ley 46/1998)
  2. 1 euro = 1.1605 US dollars (official rate from 1/4/2026) (texto fuente)
  3. Exchange rates must be used in financial and commercial operations from 1 April (art. 36 Ley 46/1998)

How it affects those involved

Businesses and individuals carrying out international operations must update their exchange rate calculations to avoid errors in pricing, costs or profits. Exporters may see their margins affected if they do not adjust promptly. Banks and financial services providers must update their internal systems. Advisors should inform their clients about the new exchange rates and their implications for cost and profit calculations.
