The General Secretariat of Fisheries has established the management provisions for the mackerel fishery (stock MAC/8C3411) in areas 8c and 9a for 2026. The resolution sets an adapted quota of 172,423 kg for vessels using gears other than trawling or purse seining with home ports in Pontevedra (Section Two). The directed fishery will commence at 00:00 on the day following the publication of this resolution (Section One).
For owners and crews of other gear vessels based in Pontevedra, the permitted catch volume for 2026 is defined, split into 120,696 kg for directed fishing (70%) and 51,727 kg for bycatch (30%) (Sections Three and Four). Gear usage is restricted: 80% of the directed catch must be obtained using handlines and/or longlines (Section Three). Once the directed fishing quota is exhausted, the fishery will close immediately (Section Six).
