Shipowners to apply for fishing activity suspension aid by 6 months

Royal Decree 213/2026 updates Annex III of Royal Decree 1173/2015 to include ship operators as beneficiaries of fishing activity suspension aid. Previously, only fleet owners were eligible. Operators can now apply, with a 6-month period from the decree's entry into force (art. 3).

In 2 key points

  1. Shipowners can apply for aid due to temporary fishing activity suspension (art. 4)
  2. A three-month period to adjust applications from the date of entry into force (art. 4)

How it affects those involved

Shipowners must revise their applications for temporary fishing activity suspension within three months of entry into force. Authorities may assess applications under the new regime. No impact on other sectors or workers directly. Access to aid is extended to a previously excluded group.
