The General Secretariat of Fisheries has established additional provisions for the mackerel fishery in zones 8c and 9a for vessels using other gear (excluding trawling and purse seining) based in A Coruña for 2026. The resolution sets the targeted fishing quota at 124,855 kg, of which 10% is reserved for the trolling method (12,486 kg) and 45% is allocated to bycatch for other methods (112,370 kg), in accordance with the parameters of Order AAA/2534/2015.
For shipowners and crews of other gear vessels based in A Coruña, the regulation allows targeted fishing to commence from 00:00 on the day following the signing of the resolution, exceptionally permitting the 20% mackerel limit in total catches to be exceeded (point four). The targeted fishery will close automatically once the allocated amount is exhausted (point seven).
