Fish and aquaculture traders: updated list of permitted commercial names in Spain

The General Secretariat for Fisheries has published the new list of permitted commercial names for fishery and aquaculture species in the Spanish market, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 1379/2013 and Royal Decree 1082/2025. This resolution repeals the previous Resolution of 24 May 2019, establishing a new framework of names for the marketing of seafood products.

In 2 key points

  1. The resolution repeals the Resolution of 24 May 2019, effective from 9 April 2026 (ANALISIS)
  2. Regulatory framework based on Regulation (EU) 1379/2013 and Royal Decree 1082/2025 (DE CONFORMIDAD)

How it affects those involved

For operators marketing fishery and aquaculture products, the regulation defines the permitted names for the sale of their products, ensuring compliance with European and national legislation. The repeal of the previous resolution means that the names contained in the 2019 regulation will no longer be valid for commercial use from the specified effective date.
