Firms and individuals: three months to update official exchange rates or deviation risks

The Bank of Spain's resolution publishes the euro exchange rate changes from 6 March 2026, effective under Article 36 of Law 46/1998. A three-month period is set for updating these rates in financial records and international transactions (art. 3).

In 2 key points

  1. Official euro exchange rates are updated daily according to the ECB (article 3) (art. 3)
  2. A three-month period to update exchange rates in financial records (article 3) (art. 3)

How it affects those involved

Companies carrying out international operations must update their exchange rates in financial records to avoid errors in cost and profit calculations. Individuals making purchases or investments in foreign currencies must use the new official rates to prevent discrepancies. Financial advisers must incorporate these changes into their reports and recommendations. The Bank of Spain is not introducing new obligations, but rather establishes the requirement to update rates within the specified timeframe.
