Autonomous Communities: deadline extended for execution and justification of RRF funds for early childhood education until June 2026

The Resolution amends the Agreement of 25 November 2021 to redistribute Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) funds allocated to creating new places for early childhood education for 1 and 2-year-olds. Following requests from certain Autonomous Communities to extend their objectives, the execution period for the 2021, 2022, and 2023 budgets is extended until 31 May 2026 (Annex, section 8). Additionally, the deadline for submitting justification for all actions is moved to 30 June 2026 (Annex, section 14).

In 3 key points

  1. Execution deadline for 2021, 2022, and 2023 budgets extended until 31 May 2026, Annex section 8 (Anexo apartado 8)
  2. Justification for all actions must be submitted before 30 June 2026, Annex section 14 (Anexo apartado 14)
  3. Total programme amount of €200,790,000.00, Annex (Anexo)

How it affects those involved

For the managing Autonomous Communities, the regulation provides greater temporal flexibility to meet schooling targets and execute the allocated €200,790,000.00 (Annex). The Ministry of Education also obtains a postponement of its obligation to justify funds until 30 June 2026 (Annex, section 14). This allows for a redistribution of credits to ensure the achievement of early childhood education goals for children aged 0 to 3.
