Businesses and individuals: update exchange rates effective 19 February 2026

The Bank of Spain publishes the euro exchange rates as of 19 February 2026, approved by the European Central Bank, which now have official status (art. 36 of Law 46/1998). These rates replace previous ones and must be used in financial operations, contracts, and commercial communications. The change does not introduce new obligations but updates official data.

In 2 key points

  1. Euro exchange rates are updated on 19 February 2026 according to the ECB (art. 36 Ley 46/1998)
  2. Exchange rates published come into official effect on the day of publication (art. 36 Ley 46/1998)

How it affects those involved

Businesses, traders and individuals carrying out international operations must use the new exchange rates from 19 February 2026 to avoid errors in pricing, invoices or payments. Public authorities and financial institutions must update their internal systems. Finance advisors must inform their clients about the new reference rate. There is no impact on contractual rights or obligations, only on the reference information.
