Businesses and individuals: One month to update official euro exchange rates

The Bank of Spain's resolution publishes the euro exchange rates as of 17 February 2026, set by the ECB, which now have official status under Article 36 of Law 46/1998. These rates replace previous ones and must be used in financial transactions, contracts, and official communications. The change affects all sectors using the euro as a reference currency.

In 2 key points

  1. 1 euro = 1.1826 US dollars (art. 1) (CAMBIOS 1 euro = 1,1826 dólares USA)
  2. All exchange rates published have official effect from 17 February (art. 36 Law 46/1998) (de acuerdo con lo dispuesto en el artículo 36 de la Ley 46/1998)

How it affects those involved

Businesses, companies and individuals carrying out international transactions must update their foreign exchange calculations to avoid errors in pricing, payments or contracts. Public authorities and financial institutions must incorporate the new exchange rates into their official records.
