Companies and employees: check the public holiday calendar for 2027

The Directorate General of Labour has published the official list of public holidays for 2027, following submissions from the seventeen Autonomous Communities and the cities of Ceuta and Melilla (art. 45.4 RD 2001/1983). The resolution integrates national holidays with regional ones to facilitate awareness across the entire territory (Legal Basis Three). The text also includes specific details regarding holidays in the Canary Islands and the substitution of holidays in the Arán Valley (Catalonia).

In 2 key points

  1. Publication of the list of public holidays for the year 2027 (art. 45.4 RD 2001/1983). (Antecedentes de hecho Segundo)
  2. Autonomous Communities may substitute national holidays or add one additional recoverable holiday if there are insufficient national holidays falling on a Sunday (art. 37.2 ET). (Fundamento de Derecho Segundo)

How it affects those involved

For companies, this resolution enables activity planning and the management of shifts and leave for the 2027 financial year. Employees can identify in advance their paid, non-recoverable rest days based on their geographical location. Particular attention should be paid to specific holidays in the Canary Islands and the substitution of Pasqua Florida with the Arán Festival in Catalonia.
