Businesses and individuals: one month to update official euro exchange rates

The Bank of Spain publishes the official euro exchange rates as set by the European Central Bank for 27 January 2026. These rates are officially valid and must be used by businesses, individuals and public administrations in financial transactions, directly affecting foreign exchange calculations in exports, imports and international dealings.

In 3 key points

  1. Official euro exchange rates are updated monthly by the ECB (art. 36 Ley 46/1998)
  2. 1 euro = 1.1929 US dollars (official rate as of 27/01/2026) (cambio 1 euro = 1,1929 dólares USA)
  3. Exchange rates are considered official from the date of publication (art. 36 Ley 46/1998)

How it affects those involved

Business operators and individuals conducting foreign exchange transactions must update their currency conversion calculations using the new official rates. Public administrations managing international contracts or foreign currency payments must revise their records. Financial advisers and export managers should communicate the updated rates to their clients to prevent calculation errors. The risk of price or cost discrepancies may increase if updates are not made in a timely manner.
