This Order establishes the technical conditions, insurable assets, and yields for the nut crops insurance within the 47th Combined Agricultural Insurance Plan. It covers carob, almond, hazelnut, walnut, pecan, and pistachio varieties (art. 1.1), as well as specific irrigation facilities (art. 1.3). The regulation explicitly excludes experimental plots, self-consumption, isolated trees, abandoned plots, and very young almond productions (art. 1.4).
For nut farmers, the regulation defines which orchards and irrigation systems (headgates and networks) are covered, requiring joint insurance for production and planting to secure installations (art. 1.3). Almond producers must be particularly cautious, as orchards of 1, 2 and 3-year-old trees in dry conditions, and 1 and 2-year-old trees in irrigated conditions, are excluded from coverage (art. 1.4.e). Any plot affected by officially declared pests or diseases will lose coverage (art. 1.4.f).
