Food distribution companies: new Framework Agreement in force until 31 December 2028

The Framework Agreement for the commercial food distribution sector, signed by ASEDAS, CEC, CC.OO., UGT and FETICO (art. 1), regulates working conditions in supermarkets, self-service stores and food wholesalers (art. 2.1). Its initial validity period extends until 31 December 2028 (art. 5).

In 3 key points

  1. Initial validity until 31 December 2028, art. 5 (art. 5)
  2. Applicable to supermarkets (CNAE 4711), wholesalers (CNAE 4639 and 4690) and their franchises, art. 2.1 (art. 2.1)
  3. Notice of withdrawal with minimum six-month advance notice, art. 6.1 (art. 6.1)

How it affects those involved

For sector companies (CNAE 4711, 4639 and 4690), the agreement establishes a common regulatory framework for food distribution, including franchises and stores dependent on central purchasing (art. 2.1). Workers in supermarkets, discount stores and food wholesalers are subject to these conditions (art. 4). Large department stores and beauty shops are specifically excluded (art. 2.2).
