Airlines in the Canary Islands: update to reference tariffs for public service obligation routes

Order TRM/789/2026 updates the reference tariff amounts for air routes subject to public service obligations (PSO) in the Canary Islands (Art. 1). This measure responds to rising operating costs in the aviation sector to ensure economic viability and the continuity of services across the archipelago (Art. 1). The regulation amends the framework established by the Council of Ministers' Agreement of 2 June 2006.

In 2 key points

  1. Updated tariffs per flight, with amounts between 84 EUR and 136 EUR (Art. 1) (art. Primero)
  2. Entry into force on the day following its publication in the BOE (Art. 2) (art. Segundo)

How it affects those involved

For airlines operating PSO routes in the Canary Islands, the regulation establishes new maximum prices per flight that must be respected, ranging from 84 euros (Tenerife North–La Gomera) to 136 euros (La Palma–Lanzarote), depending on the route (Art. 1). The objective is to mitigate the impact of operating costs and ensure the sustainability of inter-island connectivity.
