Businesses and individuals: 3 months to update official exchange rates or risk discrepancies

The Bank of Spain Resolution publishes the official euro exchange rates for 7 July 2026, in accordance with the ECB, and establishes that these rates shall have official effect pursuant to Law 46/1998 (Art. 36). This change affects all sectors using official exchange rates for financial transactions, international trade, or tax calculations. The published rates supersede previous ones and must be adopted in official records and currency conversion operations.

  2. The published rates have official effect pursuant to Law 46/1998, Art. 36 (art. 36 Ley 46/1998)

How it affects those involved

Traders, businesses, and individuals conducting international transactions must update their exchange rate calculations from the date of publication. Public administrations and financial institutions managing conversions must adopt the new rates in their records. Financial advisors and accountants should review tax and cost calculations to avoid errors caused by discrepancies. The risk of non-compliance lies in using previous rates without official updates.
